Is anyone else as excited by this weather as I am? While the rest of the country is buried in snow and grey skies, we have ourselves a merry little time in the Valley of the Sun. I love to run and hike, and spring time in Phoenix means lots of races and hiking opportunities (almost every weekend). Get out there, find your ‘thing’, and love the place where you live!
Here are my favorite upcoming races in the Phoenix area:
The Nun Run
Just south of Arizona State University in Tempe, the Nun Run is exactly what it sounds like: a run for nuns. The Poor Clares of Arizona are hosting this fundraiser for the sixth year in a row! The support from participants and onlookers leaves them one step closer to building a cloistered monastery out here in the desert.
I love this run because not only is it a great cause, but sometimes runners even dress as the fine ladies of God as they zip through the streets of Tempe. So dust off your habits and see you there!

City of Peoria Half Marathon/ 4 Miler
Right in the middle of my city is an awesome half marathon that I have actually participated in before! I love this run because they have water stations everywhere. Us runners know how incredible that feeling is when you turn a corner and see a water station…Best. Thing. Ever. This run is on the New River Trail, which means no traffic, sidewalks, or vehicles of any kind! For you avid runners, this race is actually a part of the Peoria Runners Series that collect each individual’s points per race throughout the year. (Plus, everyone gets shirts and medals because anyone brave enough to run in the desert deserves one.)

LoziLu Women’s Mud Run- Phoenix 2015
If you haven’t heard of LoziLu before, educate yourself here. Started to help kids with cancer have fun and find medical solutions, it has turned into a national phenomenon that travels from city to city putting on huge all-day events full of mud, activity, and partying! This is such a fun idea to do with the girls. Skip the spa day and exfoliate in the mud run instead! The 5k obstacle course is meant for any athletic level (seriously). Plus, there are parties, rides, dancing, and even a red carpet afterwards. (Feel free to keep the mud on for the pictures.) LoziLu comes to Phoenix in a whirl of energy on March 21. Not one to miss.
