While I could go on and on about how much I love morning runs through my Peoria neighborhood, the truly wonderful thing about living in Peoria, AZ comes down to the three E’s of buying a home: employment, education, entertainment. Even before I take clients around Arizona shopping for homes, I get to know their specific needs: where do they work, where do their children learn, and where do they have fun. As luck would have it, Peoria is a gold mine for all three of these needs (not to mention buying a home in Peoria is very affordable). Here is a list about how awesome it is living in Peoria, AZ.
Employment in Peoria
The Arizona job market is on the rise as our economy and housing market grows. Peoria is a top contender for one of the most economically viable communities based on its job availability and continued growth. Recently, the city of Peoria partnered with Trine University to strengthen the cities workforce and bring in higher paying, higher technology positions. This addition represents a turn in the city’s focus towards higher paying jobs for its qualified residents. Already, we are seeing high tech job opportunities in Peoria! For instance, Aviage Systems of Shanghai, China, a commercial aircraft engineering, design, and development company, recently broke ground on a huge facility in the heart of Peoria. The city’s Economic Development Services Director Scott Whyte claims, “It’s a civil-avionics partnership that creates a great opportunity to grow in the areas of innovation technology and enhance our workforce. We’re very excited.” This is not the first global innovations company to settle down in Peoria (and it won’t be the last!)
Education in Peoria
While the previously mentioned Trine University offers great opportunities for adults, the Peoria Unified School District receives A+ ratings year after year providing for our children. Family life is a priority in Peoria communities. Schools like Sunrise High School, Happy Valley High School, and Santa Fe Elementary School have received excellent ratings and reviews on greatschools.org. Peoria also attracts charter and private schools and learning centers that produce some of the best test scores in the state (Desert Pointe Academy and Copper Canyon Academy). For those of you who survived school but never want to stop learning (like myself), Peoria’s location amidst the metropolitan neighborhoods of Phoenix, Glendale, and Tempe allow its residents easy access to their libraries…just in case you read through the millions of books in Peoria’s own Sunrise Mountain Branch Library and Peoria Public Library.
Entertainment in Peoria
Last on this list, but certainly highest in my book: having fun. Why move to a city if there are no places to enjoy yourself after a hard day at work? (The answer is don’t move there.) I love getting outside in the beautiful Arizona weather. From watching a baseball game at the Peoria Sports Complex to testing your aviation skills at the Turf Soaring School, living in Peoria is never boring. The famous Lake Pleasant calls Peoria home, as well as an array of delicious restaurants for all preferences and budgets. Not to mention, Peoria is only a short freeway away from the newly renovated downtown Phoenix! And as we all saw from Super Bowl weekend, the fun never stops down there.
Random fun fact: for the first time ever in Arizona, we reached the top ten cities for the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED! The addition of the San Diego Padres clubhouse in Peoria brought notably energy efficient architecture to the area last year.
Buying a home in Peoria is a sound investment both for your family and your pocketbook. With average home prices around $210k and A+ education options throughout the area, it’s hard to say no to such a deal.
